Peter "Pete" S. Hunt, 81, of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2025.

Born on September 21, 1944, in Charleston, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Peter Stuart Hunt, Sr. and Marguerite Long Hunt. Lovingly known as "Buddy" by his family, in his earlier years, Pete was the life of the party and never met a stranger. He loved the outdoors, especially camping at Lake Murray and in the Blue Ridge, and was happiest when he was working with his hands. His hobbies included building model airplanes and miniature sailboats, hunting, and spending time with his family. He also deeply loved the companionship of animals, who were a constant source of comfort and joy throughout his life. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Dona Lea Hunt Reid Fanning. He is survived by his son, Stuart Hunt (Lisa) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; his daughter, Patty Stokes (Mike) of Chapin, SC; and his daughter, Ashlyn Boserup (Aaron) of Hanahan, SC. He is also survived by five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; as well as his brother, William Hunt (Shannon) of Ravenel, SC; his sister, Karen Hunt (Michael Lewine) of Highlands, NC; and three nieces.

In his later years, he faced significant health challenges, and his family takes comfort in knowing he is now at peace. He will be remembered for his love of working with his hands, his many hobbies, his enjoyment of the outdoors, and the earlier, brighter years he shared with those who knew him. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of the Veterans Affairs hospital and Oak Harbor, the nursing home where he lived, for the care they provided.
