Richard R. LaVornia Sr. died on August 27, 2025, at Trident Medical center after a complicated cardiac illness. 

Richard was born to Anthony LaVornia (deceased) and Clair (Marceau) LaVornia (deceased) on September 25, 1942, in Pawtucket Rhode Island. 

A man of deep love and quiet strength, Richard was devoted to his family and absolutely adore his wife, with whom he shared a lifetime of laughter, partnership, and unwavering love. He was the kind of man who made those around him, feel welcome and cared for – loving, generous, kind, and always quick to laugh.

He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life: a smooth drink, a fine cigar, a good hand of poker and the rumble of a classic car engine. He also cherished time on the golf course, where he found joy in the game, the company, and the peace of a well - played round.

A loyal friend and an easygoing companion, he made everyone feel like family.

A lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots, he cheered through every season with hope and heart, no matter the score. His loyalty - to his teams, his friends and his loved ones - was constant and true.

Richard leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and the kind of strength that lifts others up. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years Patricia F (Ryan) LaVornia of Summerville, SC and six children Patricia (LaVornia) Mott, and her husband Russell of Middletown, RI Richard R LaVornia Jr, and his wife Robin of North Kingstown, RI Dean LaVornia, and his wife Cheryl of Narragansett, RI Christopher LaVornia and his wife Jennifer of Tamworth, NH Bethany (LaVornia) Mailloux, and her husband Paul of Cottageville, SC Rebecca (LaVornia) Dorsey, and her husband Travis of Summerville, SC;  Sixteen grandchildren Pierce, Andrew, Rich, Anthony, Rachel, Brittany, Benjamin, Corey, Nicholas, Seth, Sebastian, Alicia, Kyra, Allyson, Lauryn, and Jacob;  Ten great grandchildren: Zachary, Connor, Angelina, Matthew, Chloe, Jacob, Noah, Natalie, Dahlia, and Killian; Richard is also survived by his brothers and sisters: A Robert LaVornia of Florida (Deceased), Kenneth LaVornia of California, Judith Wilde of California, Donald LaVornia of Oregon, Maureen Collins of California, Suzanne Erhert Everson of California and twenty nieces and nephews. His Sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Sandra Renshaw of Rhode Island, Dennis Ryan of Rhode Island, Marilyn Heon of Rhode Island, Douglas Ryan of Utah (deceased), and 16 nieces and nephews.

 A Mass will be held at St John the Beloved Church, Sumter st, Summerville, SC on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 1:00 pm.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Richard R. LaVornia Sr. at Newport Playhouse, Newport, RI on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 11:30 am. A light lunch will be served.
