Richard "Rick" Layne Porter

Richard Layne Porter (Rick) of Goose Creek, SC, was born January 5, 1962 and passed away on March 24, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family in his home. He was born in Denison, Texas and lived a very adventurous life.

Rick was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was a family man through and through and loved nothing more than being with his family. He also was the life of any party. Anybody who got the chance to know him loved him. His laugh was one of a kind and infectious. You could hear his laugh before even walking in the building and just know he was already there raising hell. We are going to miss that more than anything.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Shirley Porter and Clarence Porter, and his brother, Scott Porter.

Rick is survived by his loving wife, Cindy Porter (60); his son, Michael Gadberry (43) and daughter, Samantha Evans (36) alongside her husband Michael Evans (37); and five beloved grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: Bill Decoursey (74),Randy Porter (71), Pamela Perritte (68), Bill Porter (67), Jim Porter (65), and Sandy Porter (61).

Rick will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
