Royall Callaway, Jr.

Royall Callaway Jr. of Charleston, SC, passed away on February 3, 2022. He was born on May 27, 1943, in Plains, GA, the son of the late Rev. Royall Callaway Sr. and Rubie Slater Callaway. He graduated from Porter-Gaud School and the College of Charleston.
Roy was a gentle soul who loved and trusted people. He worked in the plant nursery and food and beverage industries. His God-given creativity led him to a love of art, both painting on canvas and acting in bit parts in New York's theater district and Charleston's Dock Street Theater. He left an unfinished novel as well. Roy was a faithful volunteer at the voting polls, enjoyed growing vegetables, and he nurtured the sweetest grapefruit on James Island. Roy will be fondly remembered by numerous cousins and friends.
A memorial gathering will be held on a yet-to-be-determined date this Spring.
