Born on Dec. 31st, 1946 in Brooklyn, New York, he was a son of the late Marie Durfee (Curran) and Russell Durfee.
Russ is preceded in death by his mother and father.
Russ is survived by Russell J. Durfee (Son).
Russ joined the Air Force in April 1966. He enjoyed a distinguished career as an aircraft technician and flight engineer. Throughout his tenure, he was awarded numerous medals and service commendations. He retired as a Master Sergeant in April 1991. After retiring, his love for aviation remained. He became an aircraft mechanic and worked on the flight line at the Charleston Air Force Base.
Russ enjoyed all things water including spending time at the pool, trips to the beach, jet skiing, and boating. He also enjoyed squadron gatherings and reunions at Short Stay. He had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved watching comedy series like Cheers and Friends. He looked forward to watching a good football game and any holiday that included fireworks.
He loved his brothers and favorite sister. Some of his fondest memories were of family reunions and get togethers in New York. Pizza night was always his favorite.
Russ was a loving and supportive father. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.
A private family memorial service will be held in New York at a time to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude and\or Wounded Warrior Project.
