Steven Wade “Steve” LeGrande, 73 years young, left this world in his own stubborn way July 29, 2026.

Born January 3, 1953, in Columbia to the late John W. A. LeGrande and the late Elsie Ruth Becknell LeGrande. He was the second of six children but was most likely first in being mischievous.

Steve graduated from the Will Lou Gray Opportunity School. After graduation, he tried his hand at several trades before settling into driving a tow truck. He worked for Rogers Towing and Suddeths Towing. Steve loved his family and pulling pranks and cutting up.

Where he found his greatest joy though was spending time with his boys. He loved fishing and NASCAR and WWE Wrestling. His favorite driver was Dale Jarrett in the 88. Never heard him telling fishing stories so I guess he never caught any. Just like his daddy, he believed wrestling was real. He liked NASCAR and cars so much he had a collection of die cast cars and trucks. Steve even had a Mater truck he displayed on his coffee table. His favorite movie series was The Fast and The Furious. Steve followed in his daddy’s steps and joined the Masonic Lodge and went further,la er joining the Shriners. Kevin’s most cherished memories are his dad teaching him to tie his shoes and riding a bike. He may be gone but the memories will live on. Maybe someday Kevin will outgrow the nickname Little Shit.

Left to cherish his memories are his two sons, Cory LeGrande of Columbia, SC and Kevin LeGrande of Akron, Ohio. Sisters Karen LeGrande, Michelle (Keith) Hawkins, Susan (Alvin) Kelley, and Gayle Steele. And a host of nephews, nieces and cousins. And a special outlaw, Chuck Steele.

Along with his daddy and mama, he was predeceased by a brother, David LeGrande.

Always one to pull a fast one on family and friends, in his memory, the memorial service will interrupt Thanksgiving weekend being held Friday, November 27, 2026, at 4:00 in the afternoon at Jackson Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to cancer research in his honor.
