Sylvia Katz Hatcher, age 74, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 8, 2026, after a short but fierce battle with cancer. Born in Miami, Florida, she brought warmth, kindness, and adventure to every life she touched.

Sylvia's journey through life took her to many beautiful places - including Kona, Hawaii; the Virgin Islands; and Kwajalein in the Marshall Islands - each marking years of exploration, love, and community. In her later years, she and her beloved husband Dave enjoyed the freedom of retirement by traveling the country in their RV, discovering new horizons and sharing laughter with family and friends.

She had recently relocated to South Carolina, where she continued to embrace life surrounded by new neighbors and old friends. Sylvia was known for her generous spirit, her bright smile, and an open heart that welcomed everyone into her circle. She leaves behind a large circle of friends and will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Sylvia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. She is survived by her daughter Liz Sineath (Rick); grandchildren Stephanie (John), Dallas, Erika, and RJ; and great-grandsons Khyler, Aiden, Luke, and Jace. She is also survived by her brother Ron Olinger (Lyndi), niece Ronni Martin (Charlie), nephew Barry Katz (Susan), and many other loving family members who brought her joy throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Dave Hatcher; her parents, Louis and Hannah Katz; her sister Harriet Horowitz; and her brother Burt Katz.

Sylvia's legacy is one of love, resilience, joyful curiosity, and the deep bonds she formed wherever she went. She leaves behind countless memories of laughter, shared meals, heartfelt conversations, and the kind of friendship that feels like family.

A celebration of Sylvia's life will be held by her family and loved ones and will be announced in the future.

May her memory be a blessing to all who knew her.
