Virginia "Ginger" Leona Hooker, 73 of Harleyville, South Carolina, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 1, 2023.
Born on December 31, 1949 in Baltimore, MD was a Daughter of the late Christine Watson (Infinger) and Cecil Pomeroy.
Virginia worked for 22 years at Lockheed Martin in Marietta, Georgia and worked various positions including machinist. She had a boisterous laugh, a big heart and a very outgoing personality. She loved music, played guitar and had a gorgeous voice in which she recorded a country music album under the name "Boots McCoy" in 1994.
During her life she became fascinated with The Civil War and its history as she surrounded herself with books of battles and visited various battlegrounds.
Ginger was retired and focused a ton of love and time towards her dogs. She was always the person that picked up a stray and loved them unconditionally.
Virginia is preceded in death by Cecil Pomeroy (Father), Charles J. Watson (Adoptive Father), Christine Watson (Mother), Brenda Bunker (Sister), and Jennifer Van Michael (Daughter).
Virginia is survived by Thomas Winklebleck, Jr. (Son), Erika Winklebleck (Daughter), Sarah Weiss (Daughter), Lauren Re (Daughter), Patricia Saltmarche (Sister), and 12 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and a great-granchild on the way; along with a niece, Nicole Saltmarche of Michigan; nephew, Chuck Saltmarche of Michigan, and nephews Brandan Bunker of Florida and Jesse Bunker of Florida, and many cousins. She will be greatly missed by all of her friends and family.
