Wayne Gregory Yongue, 83, passed away at home on October 24, 2025, after an extended illness.
Wayne was born on April 1, 1942, in Columbia. He was the son of the late Lizelle H. Porter and James G. Porter, Sr. of Columbia and the late James H. Yongue, Sr. of Kentucky.
He enjoyed playing guitar, fishing, gardening and watching Nascar.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Virginia; daughters, Stephanie Kodes of Cayce and Kelly Yongue of West Columbia; grandchildren, Jackson Kodes and Sarah Kate Kodes and great granddaughter Emery Kodes. He is also survived by a brother, James (Rachel) Yongue, Jr. of Hickory, North Carolina and a sister, Faye Grahl of West Columbia.
Wayne was predeceased by his parents; brothers, James Porter, Jr. and Thomas Porter; sisters, Barbara Avery and Marie Blume-Stokes.
In keeping with Wayne’s wishes, there will be no visitation or formal service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to a charity of ones choice.
