William Arthur "Bill" Lohse

William Arthur Lohse, 80, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2025 in Charleston, SC, leaving behind a legacy of love, generosity, and integrity.

Born on August 16, 1944, in New York, NY, Bill lived a life filled with meaningful connections, tireless dedication, and joyful adventures. He met the love of his life, Barbara, at Trenton State College (now College of New Jersey). Together, they celebrated 55 incredible years of marriage and partnership.

Bill had a distinguished career as an industrial engineer at Pfizer, his employer of 32 years. He took great pride in having received a United States patent and in his position as head of security for the company’s division in Parsippany, NJ.

Bill was known for his sense of humor, strong work ethic, and his commitment to his family and community. He participated as a youth sports coach and served on the planning commission and zoning board in Hackettstown, NJ. He was an avid boatsman, tropical fish enthusiast, and lover of all animals, having a special affinity for sea turtles and an abiding concern for their protection. Bill loved sports, whether he was playing or watching, and treasured his family travels both here and abroad.

Bill’s greatest achievement was his family – his marriage to Barbara and the three children they raised together, Jenna, Brian, and Alexandra.

Bill is survived by his wife, his children, and their spouses, Matt, Ana, and Tom, as well as his beloved grandchildren, Parker, Flora, Kurt, Derek, and Beatrix.

His wisdom, guidance, and unwavering support will be missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.

In recognition of Bill's lifelong passion for the protection of sea turtles, his family has created the William A. Lohse Fund for Sea Turtle Rehabilitation at the South Carolina Aquarium in his honor. In lieu of flowers, we hope that you will consider making a contribution:

As Bill often said, “I’ve had a good run.” And he did.
